Sienna Miller and Jack O’Connell will lead the cast as Maggie and Brick in Benedict Andrews’ Young Vic production of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof  by Tennessee Williams which will begin previews in the West End at the Apollo Theatre on 13 July 2017.

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof marks the Young Vic’s first production to debut directly in the West End and is presented by the Young Vic and The Young Ones. Prior to this the Young Vic have transferred many productions into the West End, most recently A View from a Bridge starring Mark Strong.

O’Connell, who appeared in The Nap at Sheffield Crucible last year, will play Brick alongside Miller as Maggie whose last West End appearance was six years ago in Flare Path at Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2011.

Benedict Andrews, whose critically acclaimed production of A Streetcar Named Desire ran at the Young Vic in 2014 starring Gillian Anderson and Ben Foster, will direct. Australian-born Andrews is known for his exploration of characters and tends foreground the dark urges that drive the characters in a drama. He told the Daily Mail that his approach for the show will be taken from a line in the play which states the married couple “inhabit the same cage” and vowed to capture the “raw, ferocious truth of Williams’ writing”.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public today at noon, selling through the Young Vic and Nimax Theatre’s Box Office.
