Come From Away has had its Australian premiere in Melbourne to a rapturous applause. Nance Haxton interviews real life Newfoundlander Diane Davis after the show:

The musical Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of thousands of passengers who were forced to land the small town of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada, when US airspace was shut down in the wake of 9/11.

Teacher Diane Davis was one of the townspeople who welcomed those thousands of stranded people from all around the world.

Diane Davis

After the show’s Australian premiere in Melbourne, she tells of how in awe she is of the reception the show has received all over the world. Despite seeing the show dozens of times, so many stories and their spirit of generosity is so vividly captured by each different cast, from London to Down Under.

In the interview, Diane calls for people to support First Responder charities as part of their response to the show, as so many of them are now succumbing to cancers from being the first people to answer the call to help those caught up in 9/11.
