The winners of the Olivier Awards 2019 were announced at a live ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall this evening, hosted by Jason Manford:

The winners of the 43rd Olivier Awards was announced in a live ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this evening.

The previously announced nominations (via a Facebook Live feed) were by Company and Come From Away, who each picked up nine nominations. The Inheritance dominates the play categories with eight.

But the winners of the night were shared between CompanyCome From Away and The Inheritance, which each took home four awards.

Previously announced was the recipient of this year’s Special Award, the choreographer, director and founder of New Adventures Sir Matthew Bourne OBE. This award will be Bourne’s eighth Olivier, making him joint holder of the most Olivier Awards alongside Judi Dench.

The ceremony was hosted by Jason Manford, a comedian and stage actor who last hosted the ceremony in 2017. Presenters included Tom HiddlestonKelsey GrammarGloria Estefan and Layton Williams.

Performances included all the musicals nominated in the Mastercard Best New Musical and Magic Radio Best Musical Revival categories: Caroline, Or Change; Come From Away; Company; Fun Home; The King And I; Six and Tina – The Tina Turner Musical. Disney’s The Lion King and Mamma Mia!, each celebrating 20 iconic years in the West End, also performed. Acclaimed West End star Beverley Knight sang during the In Memoriam section of the show, paying tribute to those in the theatre industry who have passed away over the last year.
